Environmetal performance needs to be considered during the conceptual design of Large Made-to-Order products and processes. This paper presents work from a case-study of two such companies based on the study of current practice. Key design activities are modeled using an IDEFO based methodology to investigate opportunities for improvement and to isolate the main barriers against achieving clean design. A system for the transfer of client level environmental objectives to the design team is proposed in order to achieve clean design.Downloads
